Choristers

SPSV Choristers is an audition-only mixed choir. Capable of learning and performing complex, 4- to 8-part choral music, students sing with proper diction, breathing, and vocal technique. Students develop their music reading skills, learning music on their own with the aid of part recordings. Students work together, take pride in their achievements, and share their accomplishments with the community through concert performances and regional, national, and international festivals.

Vocal Jazz

Vocal jazz is an advanced, audition-by-invitation-only choir. It is a small ensemble, made up of 8 to 12 singers, capable of performing complex arrangements of vocal jazz music.

  • Command Performance

AC4

AC4 is an advanced, invitation-only 'a cappella' group. The group runs itself, with some coaching from the music director. Students are responsible for picking the music, setting their own rehearsal schedule, and learning their parts on their own.

Concert Choir

This class is open to all students. Singers learn to sing with proper diction, breathing, and vocal technique. Students become more disciplined in their approach to music, singing, and other aspects of their lives. Students learn to read music through practical application and through learning basic music theory. Students learn and develop an appreciation for a variety of styles of music in a variety of languages. This group performs regularly at school concerts and functions.

Men's Choir

This extra-curricular choir is open to all male students. Students learn to read music through practical application, and the choir performs regularly at school concerts and functions.

Women's Choir

This extra-curricular choir is open to all female students. Students learn to read music through practical application, and the choir performs regularly at school concerts and functions.

Handbell Choir

This extra-curricular choir is open to all students, but above-average music reading ability is preferable. Students learn to read music through practical application, and learn how to use handbells with proper playing technique. This group performs regularly at school concerts and functions.

AMP Club

This extra-curricular group is open to all students who know how to play a musical instrument. Students form small performing groups, and learn and perform music arranged for their group. Examples of performing groups include, but are not limited to: Guitar/Bass/Drums/Piano; Violin/Piano; Saxophone/Bass/Drums. Members of this group perform regularly at school concerts and functions.
